A PPPeC-Supported Project Receives New Funding to Strengthen Canada’s Pandemic Preparedness Capabilities

rofessor Jérôme Estaquier and his team have received funding from Médicament Québec for a structuring initiative aimed at developing specialized preclinical tools and services for non-human primate (NHP) immune profiling.

These new capabilities will be integrated into the National Primate Centre for Pandemic Preparedness (NPCPP), a strategic infrastructure supported by the Eastern Canada Pandemic Preparedness Hub (ECaPPH) to strengthen Canada’s preclinical research and pandemic preparedness capabilities.

By combining academic expertise, research infrastructure, and industry collaboration, this initiative will help accelerate the development of vaccines and immunotherapies while improving Canada’s ability to respond to future health crises.

The project also highlights the importance of collaboration between academia and industry. Several industrial partners, including BD, are contributing to this structuring initiative, notably through the co-development of NHP-specific analysis kits designed to support industry needs and advance biomedical innovation.
