Gregory De Crescenzo
B.Sc. in Biochemical Engineering
Ph.D. in Biochemistry
Gregory De Crescenzo is a full professor at Polytechnique Montréal and leader of the RAMP-UP program funded through CBRF/BRIF. Dr. De Crescenzo held a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Protein-Enhanced Biomaterials from 2006 to 2016. His multidisciplinary training in chemical engineering and biochemistry gives him a particularly broad vision of biomedical and bioprocess engineering, which facilitated the development of the RAMP-UP initiative. He leads the Biomanufacturing priority axis of PROTEO, a Quebec-based strategic cluster focused on research in protein function, engineering, and applications. He is an authority on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensing, with international recognition for his development of SPR assays to characterize monoclonal antibody (mAb) binding to antigens, as well as their aggregation and glycosylation profiles. His long-standing collaboration with Olivier Henry, and Yves Durocher from the National Research Council of Canada, has resulted in the training of over 20 highly qualified personnel (HQPs) in bioprocess engineering. Most of them now hold key positions in industry across Europe and North America, including at Merck, AstraZeneca, and GSK, over the past decade.
